Contact Lens exams

Contact lenses are a popular and effective way to see clearly without glasses. At Total Vision, we fit both conventional soft lenses and rigid gas permeable contact lenses. We are able to fit lenses for vision correction and also lenses for medically necessary purposes, such as managing keratoconus.

If you are tired of wearing glasses or are in search of a new look, contact lenses could be a great solution. We can help!

Contact lenses are a medical device that require a valid prescription to purchase. Wearing the wrong lens or wearing the correct lens incorrectly could lead to serious and sight-threatening complications.

Contact lenses are a medical device, and their availability is regulated by the FDA. You need a valid prescription to purchase contact lenses according to state law.

Contact lens prescriptions expire annually from the date of issue in accordance to state law. So even if you are an experienced lens wearer, your contact lens prescription must be valid in order to purchase a new supply of lenses. For this reason, contact lens wearers need annual contact lens evaluations.

Our patients receive comprehensive care and education concerning their lenses and lens wear. We are available to teach, advise, and train for new contact lens wearers as well as seasoned veteran lens wearers.

Here are a few pointers for Contact Lens Examinations:

  • We will select your lens based on careful evaluation of fit and function, as well as your feedback. Contact Lenses are an awesome tool, but lenses and patients are not all the same. Your comfort is critical, and we aim to make comfort a premium for our patients.
  • Patients are fit in top quality lenses with no exceptions. Our doctors and staff stay up to date on the latest contact lens products and news, and we will make every effort to share those innovations with our patients.
  • New contact lens wearers will have full instruction regarding the insertion, removal, and care of their lenses. Extra time and follow-up visits are included in the Contact Lens Examination to ensure that both new and experienced patients are as comfortable as possible in their lenses.
  • For our new contact lens wearers, our doctors will most often arrange for a trial period and follow-up office visit prior to issuing a contact lens prescription. Our goal is safe, comfortable, and worry-free contact lens wear.

That is a great question. Contact lenses work for most prescriptions. While it is true that some prescriptions are more suited to contact lens wear than others, technological advances in contact lenses make them a constantly improving medical device. We would love to see if contacts will work for you.
